English Burgundy Yak Lace border

about 36" (91.44cm) Need better measurements.
Good condition, just a little frayed.
Need thread characterization.

Wool lace, simple torchon design, of an unusual but documented 'burgundy' color. In England this was known as "Yak" lace, although the actual thread was Yorkshire wool. Yak lace was developed by Mr. E. Godfroy of Buckingham, who introduced it as a novelty lace in the 1850's. Little survives due to the delicacy of the thread.
